What Makes Our Fish Different
Freshness is built into the way we work. We do not simply pick fish from stock and send it out days later.
Sourced, Prepared and Packed With Care
Hamiltons Fish is based in Bovey Tracey, Devon. We combine proper fishmonger skills with careful online ordering, so customers across the UK can receive fresh seafood in excellent condition. Our approach is simple: source well, prepare properly, pack carefully and give customers clear information.
What to Expect From Your Order
We buy fresh fish with care, using Brixham Fish Market for many of our wild-caught British species. This gives us access to excellent day-boat and market-landed seafood from the South West and wider North East Atlantic.
Your fish is handled by our own team in Bovey Tracey. Depending on the product, it may be filleted, skinned, trimmed, portioned, smoked, packed or prepared to your chosen option.
Orders are packed carefully for delivery or collection. Delivery orders are packed in recyclable cardboard boxes with wool insulation and chilled gel packs, with no polystyrene.
Every item is labelled with key product information, including use-by guidance. Most fresh fish is suitable for freezing at home, with exact information shown on the label.
Fresh, Not Overcomplicated
Fish is a natural product, so size, shape, colour and availability can vary. That is part of buying proper fresh seafood. We prepare your order carefully and make sensible substitutions only where needed, always with quality in mind.

Our Fish FAQs
Where does your fish come from?
›
We source a large proportion of our wild fish directly from Brixham Fish Market, one of the UK’s leading seafood auctions.
Our team buys fish daily based on quality, seasonality and availability, helping us offer an ever-changing range of fresh British seafood. We also work with carefully selected suppliers around the UK and further afield for specialist species and shellfish.
Is your fish fresh or frozen?
›
All seafood sold by Hamiltons Fish is fresh and never previously frozen.
We no longer sell frozen seafood and do not stock previously frozen fish. Most seafood is sourced and prepared specifically for customer orders based on the selected delivery or collection date, allowing us to offer exceptionally fresh seafood prepared close to dispatch.
How is your fish prepared?
›
All seafood is professionally prepared by our fishmongers in Bovey Tracey.
Depending on the product, fish can be supplied whole, filleted, skinned or portioned. Every order is vacuum packed and labelled individually for freshness and convenience.
How long will your fresh fish last?
›
Most fresh fish will comfortably keep for around 3-4 days in the fridge from delivery when stored correctly below 5°C.
Every product includes clear storage guidance and a use-by date label. Because our seafood is delivered fresh rather than frozen, we recommend refrigerating products as soon as possible after delivery or collection.
Can you freeze your fish at home?
›
Yes - all of our fresh seafood is suitable for home freezing.
For best results, freeze products on the day of delivery or collection and use within 3 months. Full storage guidance is included on product labels.
Is your seafood sustainably sourced?
›
We believe good seafood starts with responsible sourcing. We focus heavily on seasonal British seafood and source daily through Brixham Fish Market, where many boats operate shorter day trips with lower environmental impact.
Buying according to seasonality and availability also helps us reduce waste while supporting a more responsible seafood supply chain.
Why does your seafood range change regularly?
›
Fresh seafood availability changes throughout the year depending on seasonality, weather and what is landing at market.
Because we source fresh seafood to order rather than relying on frozen stock, some products may regularly change or be unavailable. This helps us offer seafood at its best throughout the seasons.
